Shelby American has quietly introduced the new Terlingua Mustang.
Designed to pay tribute to the Terlingua Racing Team that won the 1967 Trans Am Championship, the special edition is based on the Ford Mustang GT and features an assortment of upgrades.
Starting with the exterior, the model has been equipped with "tons" of carbon fiber components including a front splitter, side skirts, and a rear spoiler. The model also appears to have a carbon fiber hood but nothing is official as of yet.
A closer inspection also reveals a new grille with mesh inserts and Terlingua Racing Team badging. There's also 20-inch WELD racing wheels and a Borla exhaust system with black tips.
Shelby declined to release interior photos but confirmed the model has a short throw shifter and an autograph plaque that contains the signatures of Carroll Shelby, Terlingua Racing Team founder Bill Neale, and 1967 Trans Am Championship driver Jerry Titus.
Under the hood, the 5.0-liter V8 engine has been equipped with a Whipple supercharger that enables it to produce over 750 horsepower. For comparison, the standard Mustang GT develops 435 hp.
Speaking of performance, the car has an adjustable coilover suspension, an Eibach sway bar, and Ford Performance half-shafts. The model also has a Brembo big brake kit that provides plenty of stopping power.
Production will be limited to 50 units and the pricing starts at $65,999 - excluding the cost of the Mustang GT.
